I watched the first series of Poldark when the BBC repeated it on a weekday afternoon back in the late 80s/early 90s and it was very good. Then, for some odd reason only known to some red braces prat at the BBC, they decided they wouldn't bother repeating the 2nd series. They're a strange beast at the BBC; they repeat 70s sitcoms such as The Good Life, Porridge and Some Mothers Do 'Ave 'Em (which contrary to popular belief is NOT the classic some people would tell you - it's a story about a pillock whom noone, particularly someone like michelle dotrice, would go within half a mile of - he's too bloody stupid to be endearing!)ad nauseum, yet ignore the various classic drama serials it's made over the years. I can understand why they don't repeat a contemporary serial like Doomwatch - too many flares and kipper ties - but what's wrong with the historical dramas like Colditz or the Six Wives of Henry VIII? yes, they're a bit studio bound, but it's still good qualty drama. They could re-run it on BBC3 instead of the million and one episodes of two pints of lager and a packet of crisps b******s that seems to have been showing continuously on that channel for the past 5 years.
